Description

Deliciously soft and crispy on the outside, these giant pretzels are a perfect snack for gatherings and movie nights.

Ingrédients

ÉCHELLE
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 10 cups water
  • 10 tablespoons baking soda
  • Sea salt or coarse salt

Préparation

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, oil, and sugar. Let it sit for a few minutes.
  2. Knead the dough for about 4 minutes. Add the remaining flour and continue kneading for 6 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, turning it to coat. Let it rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 portions and roll each into 18-inch long ropes, forming classic pretzel shapes.
  5. Let rise uncovered for 20 minutes.
  6. Boil 10 cups of water with 10 tablespoons of baking soda and sea salt. Dip each pretzel into boiling water for 10 seconds on each side.
  7. Place pretzels on a greased sheet and sprinkle with coarse salt. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm for the best experience. You can also try adding roasted garlic or parmesan before baking for extra flavor.
