Description

Delicious and easy-to-make giant pretzels with a golden crust and soft inside, perfect for snacks.


Ingrédients

ÉCHELLE
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 12 cups boiling water
  • ⅔ cup baking soda
  • Coarse salt, to taste

Préparation

  1. Combine yeast in warm water and stir until dissolved.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine two-thirds of the flour, oil, brown sugar, and the yeast mixture, stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough by hand until smooth and form into a ball.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. On a floured surface, divide the dough into approximately 8 equal portions, shape into ropes about ½ inch thick, and twist into pretzel shape.
  7. In boiling water, add baking soda, dip each pretzel for about 10 seconds on each side.
  8. Remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. Bake in the oven for about 6 minutes.
  10. Serve warm with yellow mustard.

Notes

For a twist, try adding herbs or cheese. Can be made ahead and frozen.
