Description
A delightful French recipe for Pain Perdu, using up old bread to create a dreamy brunch dish.
Ingrédients
ÉCHELLE
- 8 thick slices of bread
- 3 eggs
- 200ml milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 200g chocolate spread (Nutella)
- 4 bananas
Préparation
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
- Take 2 slices of bread and create a small cavity in the center.
- Dunk the bread into the egg-milk-sugar mixture, ensuring it’s well-coated.
- Add 1/4 of the chocolate spread in the cavity and insert half a banana. Repeat for each slice.
- Sprinkle the remaining sugar on top.
- Place the assembled slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 180ºC for 15 minutes.
- Serve warm or hot, with cream if desired.
Notes
Be sure not to soak the bread too long to avoid mushiness; a quick dip is sufficient.
